Definitions:

Crawler - allows you to scan different kinds of web sites and download the chosen quantity of pictures on a server. The crawler can automatically resize or resizing with preview. Web sites database updates will be accessible free-of-charge *
* Not all web resources can be scanned 100%. Crawler is offered as a bonus and is not an integral part of the program.

NEW - each thumbnail and / or link at the time of addition receives the status "NEW" and has this status during that term which is given in the control panel.

ACTIVE - each thumbnail and / or link, which is not "NEW" anymore and is popular receives ACTIVE status for number of days as given in the control panel.

ARCHIVE - each thumbnail and / or link by the time they change from "ACTIVE" status and also thumbs/links that had "NEW" status but has not received any click.

Rating - Each thumbnail and / or link has its own "rating" in system which is calculated depending on popularity and some more parameters by special algorithm.

Temporary Database - temporary database used on the interface of a site (page on which thumbnail and / or links are shown).

Size of database - the size of temporary database used by the interface of a site (page on which thumbnail and / or links are shown).

Archived database of new thumbnails (RESERVE thumbnails) - this option will apply if system is working more than given time for "NEW" + "ACTIVE" status. It is also necessary fro a database to have more used thumbnails than it is given in control panel for NEW+ACTIVE+ARCHIVE for interface.

Archived database of new links (RESERVE links) - this option will apply if system is working more than given time for "NEW" + "ACTIVE" status. It is also necessary for a database to have more used thumbnails than it is given in control panel for NEW+ACTIVE+ARCHIVE for interface.

Possibility storing thumbnails on different server - the system allows storing thumbnails on different server (optional). All functionality (upload/crawling) will work with this feature as well. (see FTP settings in control panel)
How does it work?
Archived a database of new thumbnails:
- The temporary database is created for working system containing a reserve stock of thumbnails. In this case, if you put 200 new thumbnails in the database and will show only 20 thumbnails per day on your page (parameter display 'New' in admin settings), it is not necessary to make any updates for 10 days!
Archived a database of new links:
- The temporary database is created for working system containing a reserve stock of links. In this case, if you put 200 new links in the database and will show only 20 thumbnails per day on your page (parameter display 'New' in admin settings), it is not necessary to make any updates for 10 days!
Displaying thumbnails. Option 1:
- Individually for web user - Will show thumbnails by already seen by web user and by popularity.
Displaying thumbnails. Option 2:
- Generated set of thumbnails - generation of patterns of thumbnails by statuses and popularity, also remembers thumbnails already seen by the user, but using a set of thumbnails.
- All web user side (database and interface, except of the control panel and OUT clicks) works without use of MySQL.
Displaying links:
- Generated set of links - generation of patterns of thumbnails by statuses and popularity. This gives you opportunity to increase your productivity by selection more popular links.
Advantages and disadvantages:
- With use of individual display of thumbnails (option 1) system spends more resources of a server (RAM), but has higher productivity. In this case there comes to the aid resources saving system.
- With use of a sample displaying type (option 2) system spending of resources of a server almost zero, but efficiency is lower than in the previous option.
- All these data counts for repeatedly coming back user during 24 hours, otherwise productivity stays the same.
- Allong with a program you will receive a database of more then 12,000 of links with descriptions sorted by categories.
- Every set of thumbnails and/or links (category) can have it's own design which you can choose from one of the templates in control panel.
- There is no number of thumbnails and links that can be shown.
- The Program has passed testing for loading up to 1K inquiries in one minute (Web Application Stress Tool 5 threads * 5 requests each thread) on a usual virtual server and at present time works great on several servers.

FAQ:
Overview
The System has 4 statuses of thumbnails: RESERVE, NEW, ACTIVE and ARCHIVE. Each new thumbnail brought in base receives status RESERVE and is not used until lack of thumbnails with status NEW will be revealed.
After the thumbnail receives status NEW it is shown for a number of days given in control panel.
Status NEW is used as first eliminating term. Then term established for NEW status is expired there are 2 possibilities:
- 1. The thumbnail has received at least 1 click, in this case its status becomes ACTIVE.
- 2. The thumbnail has not received any clicks; in this case its status becomes ARCHIVE.
After the thumbnail received ACTIVE status, it will be shown in according to automatically generated rating and after thumbnail with status NEW and will have this status for a number of days given in control panel.
Status ACTIVE is used as the second eliminating term. By the time status ACTIVE expired thumbnail will receive ARCHIVE status.
All options of displaying thumbnails are made by a rating which is established automatically and online.
What is the order of displaying thumbnails/limks on homepage?
- In first shows amount of thumbnails (as given in the control panel) with status NEW after NEW the amount of thumbnails is shown (as given in control panel) with status ACTIVE and the last show thumbnails with the status ARCHIVE. NEW thumbnails, in case of lack of NEW thumbnails in a database interface is filled by thumbnails with status ACTIVE if also there are not enough thumbs with ACTIVE status then thumbs with status ARCHIVE are used.
ACTIVE thumbnails in case of lack in a database are replaced by thumbnails with status ARCHIVE.
Advice at installation - the first days of work:

It's suggested (but not necessary) in the first day ("day" means one day with NEW status as given in control panel, if given more than 1 day it should be calculated on number of days) of system working to setup "to show quantity NEW on homepage" as it is equal to total number of thumbnails on homepage.
What is the system of a reserve of thumbnails?

Each thumbnail added in a database receives RESERVE status, and will be used only in case of lack of thumbnails with status NEW. For example, if you have added 100 new thumbnails, and in system it is given to use NEW only 10 thumbnails in day during 10 days new thumbnails can be not added, the system itself will take the necessary amount of RESERVE thumbnails.
How should I establish the proper number of thumbnails in control panel?

Suggested:
- Check thumbnails as NEW - 1 day
- Check thumbnails as ACTIVE - 2 days.
- It's suggested to give a number of ACTIVE thumbnails on homepage equal to number of NEW thumbnails on homepage increased on number of days, during which thumbnails will be checked as ACTIVE.
Example:

Suggested number of thumbnails to display (in this case):
NEW - 5 thumbnais

Why there are 2 different CRON actions running?
- The first file is for creation of database of "Generated set of thumbnails", it is recommended to run this cron file only 1 time in 24 (no more!)
- The second file is for creation of database "Individually for web user", it is recommended to run this cron file no less than every 10 minutes.
How to keep the user of RAM low?
- For saving resources of a server and prevention of crashing the system in administrative section there is a field, limiting the size of temporary database file (see a field "Limit my temporary database to").
- Also, there is an opportunity of the warning system if the database file exceeds the certain size as given in administrative section. The warning message will appear on the main page of the administrative section (see a field "Give warning if my temporary database more then")
How restrictions of the size of a temporary database on display of thumbnails will affect?
- It will not affect work of system, popularity and new thumbnails in any way. It will simply be limited by number of thumbnails in temporary database.
What is the optimal size of a file of a temporary database?
- On this issue please contact your server's system administrator, optimal size - up to 35kb (please do not look at this as a recommendation)
